Breeding

A top cumming inside a bottom without a condom: to breed a guy is to fuck him bareback and finish inside.

Breeding

Breeding is a top cumming inside a bottom without a condom. To breed a guy is to fuck him bareback and finish inside, and a bottom who wants it will say he wants to be bred. The word plays on farmyard imagery on purpose: it is dirty, a little primal, and that is exactly the point for the men who use it.

It is not just a synonym for bareback. Bareback describes the absence of a condom; breeding puts the focus on the load and where it ends up. The result has its own name too: a creampie.

Where it comes from

There is a nice irony in it. Gay slang has long called heterosexuals "breeders," especially the ones keen on raising children. The bareback scene took the same word and turned it into a kink about something that can never make a baby at all. Nobody has pinned down when breed first took this sexual sense, but today it is everywhere on the apps.

"Vers bottom on PrEP, looking to get bred tonight. Hosting."A Grindr profile, Saturday night.

On the apps and in porn

On Grindr, Scruff and the hookup sites, breeding is one of the most common kink words. Bottoms write "breed me" or "bred and leaking," tops write "looking to breed," and the more enthusiastic tag themselves with words like cum dump. In porn it is a whole genre, with studios building scenes and titles around it, and bareback studios made it a selling point long before it became mainstream.

The health side

Breeding means semen inside the ass, so it carries the full risk of condomless anal sex for the bottom, and real risk for the top too. Two tools changed the picture for HIV. PrEP, taken as prescribed, greatly reduces the chance of getting HIV from sex, but it does not protect against other STIs. And a partner with HIV who is on treatment with an undetectable viral load does not pass it on: the PARTNER study followed 782 gay couples through about 76,000 acts of condomless anal sex and found zero linked transmissions. That is the science behind U=U.

Gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis and hepatitis are a different story. Men who breed regularly usually test every three months, including rectal and throat swabs, and keep their vaccines up to date. If you are thinking of starting PrEP, or think you have been exposed to HIV in the last three days, see a doctor or a sexual health clinic.
